Lyrics
"An Insidious Game"/ Decisions
Narrator: Enkidu does not obey him. Who would do such a thing? For what purpose?
Gilgamesh had faced enemies before, but this one...this one was different. This one walked up the palace steps...passed by the guards along the corridor... turned into the king's own bedchamber and entered the mind of the king.
Now as they take away Enkidu’s body at last, Gilgamesh stands alone raging. Who would take pleasure in such an insidious game? The gods!
[Decisions]
Gilgamesh: Ea! Inanna! Enlil!
Father once told me that someday I’d die
but I didn’t listen-- time was mine, why would I?
Oh Ea, you’re false
You play your people fast, you do
Inanna, walk past, no quarter for you
‘Cause when I ask you leave me in silence
When all that I want is just a message from the one
who is waiting for me
Inner voices: Oh no, not me, ah…
G: Now that you’ve hurt me, you don’t stand a chance
I may know the steps, but you can’t make me dance
Oh Enlil, you fill
Your heart with a lethal calm—that’s fine
And Adad, your storms are nothing to mine
So take my word, and I’ll take your silence
For I’m not such a fool to turn away from the one I love
who is waiting for me
Inner voices: Utanapishtim…
At the far end of the world…
Utanapishtim….
